One of, if not *the* best one drop in white, simply because it's often relevant at any point in a game - early game, it can stop any non-evasive defender without being a chump. Late game, it still causes your opponent to double-remove any of your creatures, provided you're not forced to prematurely activate the ability for any reason.

Part of my standard 20-card early game for any mid/late game monowhite decks I run with (the other 16 cards being 4-ofs of O-Ring, Wrath, Wall of Omens and Swords), and rarely disappoints.

@Dankirk: I'm curious; why do you call it spell bounce? It sounds like you think a spell that's countered due to illegal targets goes back to the hand; in reality its outright countered and goes to the graveyard.

It's a good thing Wizards printed Mother of Goons, or else my claim that Mother of Runes is the Don of a criminal organization wouldn't be supported.

I mean, check the flavour text. Those other families are clearly paying protection money.

Commander sure has some insane reprints. Never imagined we'd see stuff like this, Sol Ring or Lightning Greaves reprinted.
Awesome in practice, and it leads to awkwardly funny moments such as "Dude, you just Force Spike'd my Mother!".
And it's already time for Mother of Runes vs. Mother of Goons duel decks.
