Wow, this would have been obscene if it was around with infect. Actually, that gives me an idea for my casual infect deck...

Combo with Endless Wurm: the wurm destroys it at the beginning of your upkeep, and just recast it, good as new.

I like this card, but I think it is a little too broken to be legal in Standard and Modern. Probably not banworthy, but definitely a staple.

The perfect complement to a vast array of creatures, from Skyshroud Ridgeback to Lord of Extinction.

Turns out it wasn't as broken as what people used to think. (Few competitive decks play it these days. Just Bant Hexproof and green-based Gruul / Selesnya aggro, the latter isn't seen a lot) But it remains the best card in those decks which can utilize it, and probably a bit overpowered with Hexproof.

Kill the creature while rancor is on the stack they say, Hexproof laughs at you.

@Blurrymadness
You're a bit off here. The way it works is you play it in every deck.

I am missing Rancor so much, trying to make my Selesnya Aggro Deck competitive......

Got a tough creature without trample?
Why not Rancor?
