@Streamhopper: I run mine with Greater Auramancy, so it gives shroud as well! Isn't the world wonderful?
@greenzero: a ban in Modern? DO NOT SPEAK SUCH BLASPHEMIES. It is the one card that enables my W/G aura deck in there.
Also, Aura Gnarlid is quite fond of this. Kinda reminds me of Gremlins (the 80's movie) whenever I cast it on him.

To be honest, I'm kind of surprised this isn't seeing more play. It fits neatly in any deck with {G} that plans to win by hitting your opponent in the face, offering more power, evasion, the ability to turn your dorks into 3 power trampling suicide troops, and of course it's practically impossible to get rid of the thing, to the point where hitting it with Oblivion Ring is a reasonable play. It's a great card, especially for the sort of deck that is now supported by Strangleroot Geist.

Fun yeah? This is exactly what you need to make mono-black control deck unstoppable. Yes, mono-black control. I am novice to these cards, so this I can pull off guy!

I hate this card so much. Breaks a limited game right in half, and at uncommon status. I'm still in shock that they reprinted this. Why don't we just reprint Counterspell while we're at it?
This card doesn't need specific color fixing, it's nearly impossible to get rid of once it hits play, and it gives the creature trample. As if the card wasn't already good, they snapped trample on it. At the prerelease, it ended games so quickly that it cheapened the experience for me. It's a perfect example of a card that just isn't very fun, or interesting.
Spikes rate it 5/5 because it breaks the game, and returns magic to its 5 turn deathrace.
Everyone else rates it 1/5 because it kills the fun.
That being said, 1/5 for very poor design, and overall brokenness.
The card would have gotten at least a 2/5 rating from me had it been
G
Enchanted creature gets +2/+0.
When Rancor is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, return Rancor to its owner's hand.
