This doesn't really help you target Emrakul (Emragurd!) with SPELLS, but it does help you turn various assassin cards into colorless creatures, which does the job all the same.
It's as simple as - Icy Manipulator + Gnomes on Royal Assassin.
Similarly, this card is pretty darned amazing at making certain removal spells work because suddenly black creatures can now become non-black creatures...
Also similarly, if you have some way of pumping out 15 damage from a single source, which doesn't specifically target creatures with protection, just make the damage source colorless to bypass the protection.
