One does read some stupidly stupid stuff here... Overrated?? this is the most played creature in Legacy for something, dudes!! Laguz, trust me, you don't know why this card is good...
Show me a creature as big, as cheap, as splashable, and not required to build around as this, and I'll say you are right.

I don't get it. There's not THAT many card types. By the time this actually has a decent body on it, it's usually late enough that you could cast something more powerful with evasion. And there is no protection against any of the usual ways to deal with a troublesome creature.

Strictly worse than Nightmare and a mythic to boot what are you thinking wizards.

On average, this is weaker than its daddy Lhurgoyf. Should have printed that instead, its modern legal even. 0.5

what a lot of you people bashing this card dont realize is how well people far better at magic than you can build around this card. its a card that they make become a 6/7 for 2 mana. when you cant kill one with 2 lightning bolts, red is fucked as hell. and when you keep on casting these and your opponent literally can not do anything but try and survive termagoyf after termagoyf, your deck is winning. blue isnt always going to have a counter for every single one of these. sure it dies to doomblade but that card is insane and it doesnt count because that makes you look stupid for basically calling a card out for not being black, or hexproof, the latter of which might have made wizards make this card a 4 drop instead of 2 and make the card not nearly as powerful.

Too much brute force and too splashable. I hope it never graces Standard again.
Since I like to grade based on design rather than on power level, I have to rate these card low.

its nice, but come on, 130$? seriously? the largest it can possibly get is 7/8 with almost no chance of that, it has no evasion, it doesnt win you games by itself since your opponent just needs a large creature or a removal, and it barely combos. and yet, it costs almost as much as Jace, the mind sculptor right now.
not that its not good, its just not that good. i would always prefer primordial hydra.

What doesn't grow, dies.
What's with the comma splice? This card needs a Frazzled Editor.

I agree with Travelsonic, it may be good, but it's definately not 150 bucks good, that's not only insane, it's stupid.
For that price, it would need at least shroud or a super enter-the-battlefield ability. But it's a vanilla creature, it's not even black for immunity to doom blade or something like that.
150 is the price I'd expect for something like emrakul, a card that when enters the battlefield the opponent sometimes instantly scoops and sometimes just stops to look at the card because it looks cool and has cool abilities, in any format it's played.
Now go play tarmogoyf in casual magic and the 150 goyf will surely die against a 50cent leatherback baloth 8/10 times and at most your opponent will just stop to look and say "wow, that's really...expensive"
That being said, anyone paying 150 for this should be locked up in an institute for the medically insane
And yes, mostly talking about cash because beyond magic there's another, more complicated world
And no,... (see all)
