It did live up to it's flavor text back in Mirrodin. At least until everyone replaced him for Arcbound Ravager.

Card of the Day - Monday, February 11, 2002
For a period of time following the release of the Revised set in 1994, more copies of Atog existed than any other card beside basic lands.

Finally broken, but that wasn't really his fault.

Atog was NEVER irritating trash. Ouphe either, but Atog specifically has ALWAYS been a card with great applications!

@Tommy9898 - I know what you mean... would it seriously have been too difficult to have:
"Phyrexiatog"
{1}{R}
Creature - Atog
Infect
Sacrifice an artifact: ~ gets +1/+1 until EOT
0/1
I would've loved that! It could've taken Barrage Ogre's place and nobody would have cared...
Maybe it's cos {R} didn't get Infect until New Phyrexia, and even then only 3 cards got it?
