Oh, Gerrard. Top of his class, with honors in "Cheesy Action Movie One Liners 101."

@TPManW: When he was young, Volrath (then named Vuel) went through a rite of passage that involved him climbing a plateau. However, Starke of Rath added poison to Vuel's ritual paintings. Gerrard saved his life, but then his Jamuraan clan shunned him. Then he started to resent Gerrard for not just letting him die.

Wow, Volrath must have had a pretty crappy childhood if his "childhood wish" was to die.
Makes me wonder who the real good guy in the block is. Childhood victim or murderous "hero".

I used to run this with Longbow Archer, though you don't need Firststrike as the create is destroyed after the block is declared before combat damage is asigned. Reach certainly helped.

You know... I really hate this block for it's flavor.
Unless you've heard the story, none of it has any context...
And even if you do know what's going on, it's usually about spotlighting a specific character rather than linking flavor to a mechanic...

Gerrard is also known as Captain Narm, enjoys long walks on the beach, romantic dinners, and chewing the scenery.

Solid combat trick. Usually better than Righteousness unless you're using lifelink or other effects that scale with damage.

Such dark flavor text for a white card.
