Hmm, how about Myr, or Construct?

Good in an Illusion tribal deck, since it comes 'free' with the illusion type reduction already and on the turn it is cast. Also fun in multiplayer, where you can barter with enemies or bolster allies by using your creature to make theirs cheaper.

"That still only reduces the cost of any creature by one colorless mana. Since changelings are already all illusions, I'm not entirely sure why you're running the Stalactite."

Guys the reason runed stalactite is awesome with this and other changelings, is that the changelings are every creature type as well. How many different creature types can you name off , beast soldier wizard warrior berserker human. Whatever, the point is it checks with each creature type, so now changelings only cost a colored mana to play.

I find him pretty useful in a changeling zoo deck, especially once you get a runed stalactite on him.

I would have prefered a "Raven Guild Warchief" or "Riptide Warchief" for Wizards much more than this.
No tribal deck will be able to make use of such an "universal" warchief that may reduce the cost of a specific type, yet doesn't come with a second useful ability like the other warchiefs do.
On top of this, regarding flavor, the Mox it is wearing doesn't look like a Mox Sapphire.

Edit (since 2009/8/24):
@OpeeFomenom oops, that's what i meant actually.
Because Sapphire Medallion looks much different with the gold scarab ornamentation around it. Without that it'd just be a Sapphire :D (I reckon Mistform Warchief's thing around his neck obviously does look like a medallion with this particular Sapphire inside it, though.)

Now that there's some tribal love for them, this dude might find use in an Illusion deck afterall, since he halves the cost of all those 1Blue Illusions. He won't be able to reduce the cost of Lord of the Unrea... (see all)

It's basically a Llanowar Elves for Blue. Reduces the mana of any creature type.

T1: Forest, Llanowar Elves.
T2: Island, Mistform Warchief.
T3: Island, "Type: Shapeshifter" = Superman.
