Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Ophidian, a simple creature that originated the mechanic of combat-related card draw.

I like flash, as it allows my commander, Niv-Mizzet the Firemind to live and get out my player-b-gone combo. They always kill him the turn I enchant him :(

Part of yet another cycle! This time it was 5 common enchantments that all had flash - the others are Æther Web, Feebleness,Ghitu Firebreathing and Temporal Isolation.
Right now, community rating has Ophidian Eye in the middle of the pack, and I think that's justified. Comparing this to Sleeper's Robe is fair in some cases, but keep in mind that the robe specifies "combat damage" while this one triggers off anything. It's what makes hyrule's combo work so effectively, and you could also put it on something like Plague Spitter, Jaya Ballard, Task Mage or Kumano, Master Yamabushi. Hell, even Squallmonger would work in a multiplayer situation.

While the flash can allow you to get away with some mid-combat shenanigans, and I always like when they make an aura that turns its bearer into a famous critter, in this case Ophidian, I truly feel that Sleeper's Robe is overall a better deal.
Really cool art though.

Flash increased the card's cost by like a cantrip normally does...
Although you can get an instant advantage from flash in this case, the increasement is still a bit much, isn't it?
But the name with its reference and the artwork is awesome!
I'd like to see this effect as a keyword ability by the way...

No it doesn't read the rules under the card under "details"

Anyone else noticed you can use this on your opponent's creatures? Just let some small evasion dude get through your defenses, then cast this on it. You draw a card, and you've effectively saved yourself 1 damage for every turn for the rest of the game.
