It's really good. At worst you can just it to grab a killspell or something if you're desperate, but there are so many other options. It can also just act to exile a card, or steal their wincon for yourself. Sure, you're down 2 mana if you want to play it, but it's still pretty good.

Run in EDH with either Sharuum the Hegemon or Glissa, the Traitor as your general...?

This is going in my artifact deck.
I'm using this to counteract my friends' artifact decks (we all play a lot of cloudposts and things can get crazy). It's going to be so nice when I take my friends' Eldrazi, Darksteel Forge, Darksteel Colossus, or Platinum Angel. Hell, I might just take a Stuffy Doll and watch them suffer.
Oh. Did I mention my deck is built around Mirrorworks?
Multiple copies of Grinning Totem?
Multiple copies of my friends' artifacts?
Yea. I like. 5/5

Hrm, another old card that I only found out about through a chain of discussion links. I got linked here from someone suggesting throwing this on a Prototype Portal to not only grab what you want from the opponent's deck (or simply get rid of problematic combo pieces), but also make them shuffle their deck every turn.
...beyond that, this is a pretty neat and fun card. I'm surprised I've never seen any EDH decks with this in it. Well, guess I'll go ahead and take the honor of being the first in my playgroup to use this creepy as hell totem for my Sakashima the "oh, you're playing that deck... oh hey so am I!" EDH deck. Now, if only EDH didn't have that off-color mana producing rule... :(
