Snaxme, that's pretty much the only way to use rampage effectively, other than Gorilla Berserkers. Although this card does encourage multiple blocking due to Trample...

In an Elf deck he is very good. Mana from lands and elves makes him come out pretty fast. Even better give him lure, venom and regeneration...well thats about all they wrote for your opponent's creatures.

Despite some obvious problems, such as a staggeringly green mana cost, this guy isn't really that bad. A 6/4 trample, rampage: 2 for 7 is not terrible, even by today's standards, though he'd probably only cost 6 if created now. Sure, the four green require is silly - 2 or 3 would have worked, but trample + rampage is pretty good. Back in the day, he was reasonably scary since the game had far fewer large creatures that could threaten him, and if you gang-blocked, rampage would trigger, and the problem would get worse.
Personally, I'd like to see rampage return - it just needs to be stuck on creatures with trample or some other ability that makes people want to block them.

"Well, that's not really fair, Harthog," piped up Julian, leader of the Coalition for People with Reduced Stature. "I mean, no one here wants to stand in your way. We'll all sit. Who likes sitting?"

Man, rampage pairs well with trample.

Tsk, tsk. Using such a politically incorrect term like "midgets" on a Magic card in this day and age...

this was the doombringer back in the day. by the time you played him, no one really had anything left to stop him. He is still playable today with elvish piper or any card that lets you play creatures for less. then giant growth him.
