Insect: What needs said? You'll find them everywhere, especially these places (maggots anyone?)
Rat: See Insect (and eating maggots)
Spider: Eats Insects. 'Nuff said.
Squirrel: Squirrels ARE NOT all just the cute things you see in Disney. Yes, they certainly are cute... but they're wild animals like any other. And scavengers. And can get scary...
But... Rat Ninjas. O_O This card is so cruel to face when coupled with Ninjutsu. (Ha! I blocked your creature, no Ninjutsu and it dies... or not. dang.)

Return to Ravnica brought us back into the ranks of the Golgari Swarm which are using more Insects as part of their guild's strategy (from Drudge Beetle, to Deadbridge Goliath, to Zanikev Locust). I find it interesting that Golgari's new mechanic is 'scavenge' and Swarmyard's flavor text mentions 'scavengers'. Along with Scute Mob, there's the makings of a mono-ish green Insect Tribal deck (and it probably wouldn't be half bad either).

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Elephant Graveyard.

@TPmanW; You need to take a closer look at your squirrels. Krosan Beast and Squirrel Mob can be devastating in a decent squirrel deck if they keep getting regenerated.
Also, I'm just sayin', but spiders don't tend to swarm. And if they did, I'm sure the result would be terrifying. Birds would probably make more sense, and if someone can regenerate an Ant Queen, then screw you, a Windbrisk Raptor is fair game.

You could actually make a viable deck out of this and:
A) cheap insect utility cards ( Believe Goldenglow Moth and Deadly Recluse were already mentioned).
B) The good 'ol rat deck
C)uhh, squirrels? Might be a little too expendable to bother regenerating.
D) Changelings - some of those guys are pretty useful, give them free regeneration and you could have a real threat there.
E) Some or all of the above.

I do not understand why it regenerates spiders, seeing as no spider is a scavenger. Do they hunt the scavengers that infest the Swarmyard? And, if that is the case, why doesn't it also regenerate scorpions? And, even more puzzling, why do we have "Spiders" and "Scorpions", but insects are simply classed as "Insects"? Shouldn't the arachnids be similarly classed as "Arachnids"?
@whoiam: Because they're dirty scavengers, just like their rat cousins. Again, I find it weirder that there's spiders there, as (almost) all spiders live a strictly predatory lifestyle.

Will find it's way into some black or green decks. I can think of a couple red insects but not many. Why not play them if you have the creature types?
