I guess making a series of wurms ain't half bad. turn 5, makes a 1/1, but turn 9 makes a 5/5, and if thats all you've casted, you have made 15 power worth of wurms.

This creates a lot of inevitability in EDH decks that are G, X/G, or X/X/G.
Even if you've run out of gas completely and are pretty much in topdeck mode with no real way to recharge, having this in hand means you can tap out for a wurm each turn that's got power and toughness equal to the number of lands/manarocks you have minus 4. When EDH games run long, you can be dropping a 10/10 wurm every turn at least. Even without trample or other forms of evasion, that many beaters is still a formidable force.

I love this card! Getting this early in a mono green deck, is so much fun. Only {2}{G} to buy back? easy easy. I had a test run of my mono green deck, that by turn five, I was spitting out 7/7, 9/9 etc wurms, at a very good rate. And I only had 3 lands, and a handful of elves on the field! I don't have an EDH general that would make this useful there for me, but I can see it's potential easily enough there.
This would also be a staple in any GW token deck as well. I love to use Doubling Season, and populate effects make them even better!

Got one of these in my Simic EDH, it's great for making sure you can always hit the evolve for everything on field. 4/5

True, thrown into your average deck, it's an average/good card, depending on the deck.
What most people seem to miss, however, is that if you play an infinite mana combo (which is incredibly easy to do with green) you can put out an infinite amount of ∞/∞ wurms! If you play a bit of red also, you can probably find a way to give them all haste until end of turn.
But even without a combo, just about any green deck with a decent amount of mana can make good use of this card.
Oh, and heartbeat of spring.

Having trouble seeing the value of repeated 7 mana vanilla 3/3s outside of limited.
If you need grindy green cards look at Harmonize and Eternal Witness
