He is very useful, great for locking down elf decks that have no removal and if you have more on the table than it really makes them lose hope. I rarely sac it but it is handy to take out big things as well.

It's a pinger of sorts that doesn't totally suck against creatureless decks. Also, having a creature hang back and potentially give anything -1/-1 makes blocking a lot harder for the other guy. 3/5

Disciple of suck compared to Disciple of the Vault... seriously though it's an okay card, a bit overcosted but 2 abilities on a common is pretty good. I would prefer more toughness, if he was say, a 2/4 for {2} {B} {B} with those abilities he'd be pretty good... that way you could block with him, then use his ability. As a 3/1 you want to swing with him but doing so makes his {T} abilities pointless.
