I stuck this in my first ever deck, along with Devoted Retainer and Hedge Troll. That was back when I was buying random packs from different sets, and building decks more on the colors of the cards rather than the interactions between them. I'm pretty sure I was under the notion that this guy was rare, because he's a 6/6 for 6 trampler, and he gains life! Noobs love gaining some life, and I was a noob. That deck was fun. I should rebuild it.

@Epic Broccoli, Chamale's little plan works; you mov BOTH the age and -1/-1 counters off Aboroth

A good body for the cost, beautiful art, flexible cumulative upkeep cost, and it rewards you very well for keeping it around! Good card.

Combo with another aging card and Fate Transfer. This makes a scary partner to Aboroth - the Fate Transfer kills Arctic Nishoba, but you gain 12 additional life and the Aboroth is back in business.

@Chamale
Age counters != -1/-1 counters

this card should be a 4.5 easy. 6/6 trample and gain 2 life min, you're a sucker not to play it in a green mana ramp
