This may be a timeshifted Strafe, but can you make a pun like "Whitening Bolt" with that card name? No.
This is pretty awesome in white, actually. It helps compliment Path to Exile, which is harder but has a drawback, meaning this is more appropriate for early play.

Kills Kird Ape, Vampire Nighthawk, Goblin Warchief and more with seemingly no drawback. A great alternative to Path to Exile during the early game, and can still be used for pre/post-combat shenanigans during late game.

this card embodies the element of surprise the look on peoples face when you tap a plains and say i burn your creature is priceless. same goes for the counterspells from this set

It's not the white lightning bolt. It's a sorcery that only targets creatures, and non-white ones at that.

It may only target creatures but there are only so many times your going to try killing an opponent with lightning bolts, and if your playing white or some combination of multi color that doesn't use red, throwing in a few lightning bolt type spells in white doesn't hurt. It's not as good as lightning bolt perhaps, but if your playing mono white then it's the next best thing.
