Play this with Manabarbs then you can tap all your mana and make your opponent take all the damage. I think that will put a lot of pressure on them to the point that they can not function properly.

Manabarbs. Man, I'd build a whole deck around that. That combo > Pestilence.

This also works pretty well with Pestilence and its ilk. And spiteful visions.
This is one of those cards that look really bad on paper but is far more powerful on the board.

I used to have a deck based around this, pestilence, and stuffy doll.

@Kurosiv the ability is a triggered one, not an activated ability. It reads 'WHENEVER' a source deals damage to you, you may pay 1. This means that the option to pay 1 only arises each time a source dealing damage to you -- which means it's 1 trigger of Circle of Affliction per instance of damage.
If you could repeatedly pay, the text would more likely read, "1: Circle of Affliction deals 1 damage and you gain 1 life. Activate this ability only if you have taken damage this turn."

Compare to Curse of Wizardry, which doesn't require continuous payments, but doesn't let you aim the affect or gain any life from it.

This is why I like to play black. Gotta share the pain.

@A06
This is just what my "screw everyone in multiplayer" deck needs :D.
Mana Barbs, Citadel of Pain, Chain Reaction, Wheel of Fate, Aggro stuff
