God-mode in Limited, especially since he's only a common.

It seems to me that T-Folk could go bigger than this....

Good card for re-animator, great for peasant and pauper re-animator. There are few common beasties to pick from, and this is one of the best. If it was a 5/7 with just trample, it would be a typical common beast. But 5/7 with trample and vigilance puts him into the great category. He is the 2nd best common fattie, only below Ulamog's Crusher.
If you want a large creature with vigilance and trample, consider this card. There is currently only one other card that matches his size/toughness with these traits: Akroma, Angel of Wrath. That is a very elite group! Excellent art too. Very underrated. rating: 4.5/5

Probably this or Thistledown duo are my favourite cards art-work wise. If you get this thing out via Leaf Crowned Elder and you already have an Orchard Warden out on the field, it could really turn the game completely around (rare occurrence, but it has happened to me on more than one occasion).

Good attacker and defender.

Vigilance seems to work on this particular non-whte common creature, and I think that is mostly because of the established idea of Treefolk and what they are. Their defensive, toughness-oriented nature feels right with vigilance. So yeah good example of how the right flavour and established themes can make out of colour mechanics work.

Thorn Elemental is kinda better for the cost.

This card used to be good, until cost-effective green creatures came out. If you are going for a vanilla big creature, just use Terra Stomper. Ever since the Zendikar block came out, 5GG will get you a lot. My favorite card for that cost is Engulfing Slagwurm, a 7/7 creature with an ability better than deathtouch that gives you life whenever it fights. I could see using it in a treefolk creature type deck, but in a general green deck, it is kind of useless.
