Don't get your hopes up. It says you may play the card but it didn't say that you could play it without it's mana cost. But keep this in a side deck and use it against decks you know have specific colors that fir your mana criteria.

this is one of the best mill/control cards I've seen that's not a mythic rare. combo it with heartstone and utopia vow with that right there you can mill infinitely (unless you're against blue or red) if you can draw your opponents land you can also play there deck against them.
bottom line this creature has beefy toughness to protect it fromflame jab/volcanic hammer

A simple Earthcraft LOL , wake up man Tempest it's 15 years back in time !
Not a lot of people got this card in hand and as i remember i got one but can't tell what i did with it as for my tolarian academy , exploration , recurring nighmare , sure some tinker ( i found one back at least! ) ...
I remembered selling a cursed scroll and a Volrath's Stronghold in order to buy boosters , i was a poor young boy back in time and there were a lot of bastards ready to fool you on deal with no internet to help but still a monthly magazine with prices .

i don't know why its rating is far lower than gilder bairn, i might be wrong . i know that in place of not playing paradise mantle + training grounds combo, gilder bairn is better, but its not that far i think. if the combo works, you may play almost all cards in the opponent library (perhaps their mythic rare or rare) or maybe using some of his/her lands.
for gilder you need at least one permanent which already has a counter on it. 4.5/5
Edit: ok, i build a combo deck with this.. and it is not a fun way to win. so i rate it lower now.
