"dude we should make a hill giant for 3"
"no way that'll be way overpowered, people will start getting angry"
"ok, lets make it unable to block"
"yeah, that's a really fair card"

Normally 3/3s in red cost 4 mana. This 3/3 in red costs 3 mana. The drawback that it can't block is compensation.

actually, I like this card a lot :)
it's 3 power for 3 mana! that's not too pushed, but it IS a big enough change to shake up limited somewhat. and it's fire-resistant (limited red removal will usually have a tough time getting rid of it).
'can't block' makes an interesting board-- but at the same time, not 'too' interesting, bc imho I can see myself blocking with white, green and even blue creatures (turtles? magic walls? heck ya!) before I want to be blocking with red creatures. the only color I want to block with less than red is black, because I want my black creatures to be so stupid that they win the game for me when they enter the battlefield, before they even get a chance to attack. See Griselbrand, lol.

Kind of in a thorny spot. Not being able to block sucks, but it'd be too strong at 1R. What it should have been is 3/2 for 1R and can't block, or 4/3 at 2R and can't block. Something halfway in between, to make it a good beater that has very real downsides.
Unleash proved that being unable to block is worth +1/+1, and even then it's sometimes not even worth it. Blocking is really important.
