People are missing the point. This guy is from Eventide, you tap your red creatures with untap abilities (someone mentioned Hateflayer?). It's terrible if you treat tapping as a strict cost, yes.

Why the low rating? At the very least he's awesome in my Brion Stoutarm EDH deck with lots of fat giants and the like.

I think I prefer Keldon Battlewagon even though this may stick around after one attack. The wagon is cheaper, colorless and has better art.

I would use him with Hateflayer. If you have both in play, that's at least 6 or 7 mana, so you can burn twice with an attacking Giant and Flayer for 13+5 combat damage and 10 burn damage.

Grossly overpriced.
Compare to a Shivan Dragon or anything remotely useful red has at the 6 mana slot. Yeah, Trample is nice, but having to tap another creature to add to this guy's power isn't all that great since that other creature probably could have been attacking directly and thus still deal its power on its own. You're not really getting much out of that ability. Blah!

That is pretty much the only reason to play this overcosted bolt-bait.

Combos really well with conceding.

Things like this (and poorly used Devour) are what teach the new guys the power of removal. If ever there was a place to teach the lesson of not putting all your eggs in one basket, it is Magic.
I like him though, especially since they didn't push him to a rare slot needlessly. The flavor of a bunch of goblins jumping on this living siege engine was nicely done. Trample was a very good addition too.

Can't tap himself?! Yeah, I prefer Keldon Battlewagon too.

Fling? Rite of Consumption? Serra's Blessing? Pretty terrible tribe, giants. Hope they get revisited and improved. (The titan cycle doesn't count.)
