This would be a great card to play after you cast Wheel of Fortune. Without a draw mechanism, however, I would say this is pretty underwhelming unless it's in your opening hand.

X is determined on resolution, so you can only get 7 damage with Memory Jar. Keep in mind that the Jar costs 5 mana by itself, so I don't think it's worth it at all.
However, this card is not bad.

Why wasn't it reprinted in shadowmoor? Why?! It would have worked so well with the elementals called "cinders" and the color maters theme fits too. Oh well, poor a glass for the missed opportunity.

Runs great in red decks with lots of drawing...oh wait.
Revealing your hand to your opponent is generally a bad idea (see cards like Land Grant) but if the effect is going to win you the game, it's worth it! Usually deck that run this would have this (or similar cards) as it's finisher. Also...COMMON??!??!

Memory. Frackin. Jar. 14 damage for 2 mana?!?! why yes I would, thank you.
this isn't for 'Red Deck Wins'- this is a super-duper-powered Pyromantics for COMBO burn!

not usually very useful, but I love being red and just showing people my hand so they realize just how screwed the are. x4 lightning bolt x4 shock and one copy of the curse that doubles dmg dealt to a player :D
Red burn ftw.
