If you see this card for the first time with this art, you will *never* love it.

A typical type 1 cost card. The p/t and abilites just arent worth the mana cost of 9. Now, if it was played CORRECTLY, in a GOOD dragon deck, with LOTS of support, it could work. The deck would have to be solid red however, so a Chill would devistate it. Although it would be nice for getting rid of cretures quickly if you have the mana. I personnaly would chose to wait untill turn 10 and play two Lava Axes with a Fire Servant in play. Hitting for 20 is always preferable to doing 9 dammage to a creature.

9CMC AND having to tap AND then spend mana is just too expensive. 9 CMC is even more than reiver demon, which is far more devastating than this. 9 CMC for a flying 6/6 that you have to tap and invest lots of mana in is just not good enough imo. If it didn't have to tap...

I would love it if it was 6/7 CMC

To me, Ancient Hellkite and Flameblast Dragon are preferable.

Never been sure on this one. Quite good, but with a huge drawback in its mana cost.

The original unused art for Crimson Hellkite in Mirage expansion was Dragon Mask. The story was that an artist friend of a developer attempted to draw an imposing dragon for Crimson Hellkite but ended up took the de***ion too literally, so the art went to the Mask instead.
