Actually, it's not strictly better. The amulet can save creatures, which is often much more valuable than saving one life.

At uncommon, not bad...you can use it repeatedly, which could save your life until you draw into something...

This card was not used seriously when Ice Age came out, and certainly would not be now. But then again, we used to play with pretty bad cards. 2.5/5

Switch the activation cost and the amount of damage prevented and you might have something there. Otherwise it's fairly well crap.
