Compare Metathran Soldier.
Metathran don't get tribal support, but soldiers do, including some in blue, though not as much as white.
Illusions, on the other hand, pretty much only have Lord of the Unreal and Phantasmal Abomination, but figment also has a kicker ability for no additional base cost over the soldier.

Unblockables need some sort of power ramping to make them truly excellent. But I would play this card, for sure. I also want one for the art.

Ninjas!
I put a Gigantiform on this guy during a draft. It was hilarious.

Exalted anyone? Of course in that case you'd run Jhessian Infiltrator, but what does the extra power matter when you need eight of these 2-drop unblockable dudes to draw them reliably? This could be better than Jhessian Infiltrator because it's easier to cast and late game is more potent.

The question I am asking myself is "is this better than Phantom Warrior for a blue-black control deck?"

I put one Aether Figment in my proliferate deck U-B... why not?

I've found this to be very useful to stop planeswalkers from getting to their ultimates. Kicked it kills them very quickly. There are probably better cards to do this but it does work for blue.

Now Illusion is a semi-supported tribe so this is better

1/1 unblockable for 2 mana is good. 3/3 unblockable for 5 mana is good. Both on the same card is great. The flexibility to combine it with bloodthirst and Lord of the Unreal and Dark Favor is awesome. This is my new favorite card in standard.

Just won 3rd at Game Day with this card. I hope Innistrad brings more illusions and cards like this.
