The earlier this is played, the better, at least against most opponents. It's not that hard to get out by turn 3 in the right deck - for example:
Turn 1 Plains
Turn 2 Swamp, Marble Diamond
Turn 3 Swamp, Dark Ritual, Identity Crisis.
Or:
Turn 1 Forest, Search for Tomorrow
Turn 2 Swamp,
Turn 3 Search library for Plains and put it into play, play another Plains, Dark Ritual, Identity Crisis
If you manage to mana-ramp to this quickly enough, it's the end of the game against most decks. However, this is not a card to simply toss into any white-black deck. Be careful.
4/5 because it's only useful in a deck that's quite set up for it.

Oracle text should read: Lose target friend.

Very heavy casting cost, but incredibly disruptive to decks that rely on Graveyard effects. I agree with dgregory's comment that against the WRONG deck, this is ballast.
3.5/5

My friend dominated my black deck with this, but it was just a waste of a card against my red deck.

My friend cast this during the 3rd to 4th turn with his the rock deck. It's pretty when u got hit by it. It's like a mini cruel ultimatum. Pretty useful in getting rid of those pesky bloodghast.

Very powerful spell. If it works, it's great. It's casting cost means that it will be cast late game when your opponent's hand is all ready gone. Best place for this card is in the side board. Maybe against the blue player who always has 7 cards in hand. Anywho, in today's standard Mind Sludge might be better.

It's too narrow as it is. Expensive graveyard hate is done better in Haunting Echoes and to expensive for discard, most likely to net you 3 cards at most. It just needs a little bit something more to make it usable, such as gain life for each card removed.

I'd say this is great against graveplaying decks and/or dredge decks, and it is, sure. But with cards like Ravenous Trap...it pales in comparison.
