Great spell, deals with Finks and the gang. Also sets up some nice tricks, since its effect lasts the whole turn. 4/5.

It looks like a Shock that could have been designed in the Kamigawa block. Obviously nasty against recursion/persist creatures.

@Shadoflaam
Sigh.... this can't hit players. Good try, though.

"If that creature would die this turn..."
Jeez, it's going to take a while to get used to seeing that.

A way to cripple those persist creatures and early game creatures..afraid of Hellspark Elemental? Im sure that bolt of elemental cant stand a magma...and a good way to neutralize early game creatures... i run four in my mono-red aggro burn deck an some Yamabushi's Flame and Yamabushi's Storm and Relic of Progenitus... my opponent doesnt have anything in his/her graveyard...

Sorry Shock. Between this recursion hoser and Lightning Bolt being reprinted I think you will be a very sad burn spell for the foreseeable future.

If only is stopped regeneration too. Then it would be a very, very useful card.

You'd be surprised how many cards there are with a toughness of only 1 or 2 that can really screw up how your deck runs (Just off the top of my head: Dosan the Falling Leaf, Samurai of the Pale Curtain, Ethersworn Canonist...). Magma Spray is a good way to make sure that they're not only gone, but they're not coming back.

I see it as much more useful than Shock in the SB for recurring threats. Especially Bloodghast.

Yeah, it's no surprise that this saw a lot of play.
