As much as I like this guy, I would have preferred a nalathni dragon over the dragon whelp in this set.

This is another card where I think the art for the Dragon Vault Set is awesome. It works really well as a foil.

Not to insult this card or anything. But why in the world was this picked for a top 15 Dragon set? He wasn't rare before so it's kinda weird now(Note he's uncommon in M10). Also was there not another dragon to pick?
A foil reprint of Viashivan Dragon would have been a better fit, no?

Yeah, this is a nice card, but rare and foil worthy it is not. "Whelp" and rare don't match. I love it as an uncommon, but it's not a rare and shouldn't be printed as such. He most definitely does NOT belong in a from the vault set among hellkite overlord and draco, this whelp is an insult to people buying that set.

For the most part I stopped playing dragons because they're terrible card disadvantage. I do not want to be down 2-4 mana because of someone's plummet or doom blade. But seeing this guy staring up at me brings me back; he can stay in the nest, I'll bring back dinner: a smoking carcass of some white or blue creature, roasted by 5/5 red dragon creature tokens from either Sarkhan the Mad or Dragonmaster Outcast.

They should have gone with the old art for the vault set honestly.

I don't understand why the gatherer page of this is shiny. There are plenty of other cards that have foil prints and are not colored like this, in fact, this may be the only card I've seen that looks like this.
