Way more limited than Swirling Spriggan. Then again, this was Ice Age, and at least it has a decent P/T.

@Auteur: Did you just call 4/2 for 5 mana decent? Oo
The problem here i think it that this card tries to be two things at once and fails at both.
(Consider many cards i'm going to list did not exist in Ice Age)
The idea was to have a creature that can take any colors to take advantage of other cards' effects that make use of it (Bloom Tender for example), which were possibly more used in multicolored decks (therefore it only costs a single blue mana). Simultaneously it should provide a strong body in blue as well.
However a deck using such cards shouldn't have to wait for a creature that you can cast in turn five. And the 2 toughness also make it to an easy-to-kill target.
I'd rather play Transguild Courier or Swirling Spriggan, and even these guys are somewhat slow on turn four.
(The spriggan is even slower, but the upside is that you can active his ability in response to any kind of creature removal to make it fizzle.)

This has officially made my top 10 list of coolest card names. Plus the art is pretty wild.

Hey, with paradox haze you can change the color up to four more times!
...yeah this card still sucks. At least it doesn't have a drawback or upkeep cost like most of the cards back then.

Spiritmonger, Scrapbasket and Scuttlemutt outperform.
If only this card had flying and could change the stats instantly somehow: like creature type & power/toughness like Shapeshifter.

Surely one of the most surreal cards in MtG. A fragile but deadly creature that inexplicably changes color? With bizarre art and absurd flavor text named Shyft!
Then you see the prohibitive casting cost. The budding dreams of a deck that argued for an infusion of spontaneity in the human condition, for a recognition of the radical freedom of the individual, and a rebirth of childish whimsy are dashed against the rocks of reality.
Study it well...

@ brunsbr103 - as 'Archmage of the Unseen' I'm not surprised she hasn't turned up anywhere other than flavour texts... I'm guessing it takes quite a bit of skill to remain so well hidden!
Maybe if they do something like a Time Spiral 2.0? There's still so many potential legends that have yet to be given cards.
Not to mention that they really messed themselves up by having a set that revolved around planeswalkers and only introducing the 'planeswalker' card type in the VERY NEXT BLOCK!

@allmighty_abacus: That's why I run four of both in my disco dance party deck.
