For the benefit of people who wander here in the future, long after Conflux is forgotten:

This card was part of a cycle of gold common creatures, all of which had protection from their shared enemy color:

Goblin Outlander - BlackRed (Jund Goblin Scout, traveled to RedGreenWhite Naya)
Nacatl Outlander - RedGreen (Naya Cat Scout, traveled to GreenWhiteBlue Bant)
Valeron Outlander - GreenWhite (Bant Human Scout, traveled to WhiteBlueBlack Esper)
Vedalken Outlander - WhiteBlue (Esper Vedalken Scout, traveled to BlueBlackRed Grixis)*
Zombie Outlander - BlueBlack (Zombie Scout, traveled to BlackRedGreen Jund)

*This one is unique as it is an artifact creature.

I am basing this off of the background, the location, and flavor text of each - the wilds and the flavor text lend credence to the idea that this creature has wandered off into Jund, ready to feast on the living. Note that they always have protection from... (see all)

yeah, vodalian zombie is better, strictly because its a merfolk, and merfolk are cooler

@luca_barelli: In Conflux, each shard only clashed with the shard at its side, so Grixis only met Esper and Jund. Since Grixis only knows blue, black and red mana, what's strange from Jund is the green mana. Sure, Naya would have blown their minds a lot more, but it's not that Jund isn't strange to Grixis.

IMOH, better than Vodalian Zombie, because even though it lacks Merfolk typing and is a Scout (unsupported type) the art is fantastic!!

Unlike the other Black Outlander, there is no 2-mana Knight with Pro-Green for this to be directly compared with. That is to this guy's advantage.
