before M10: hey cool, I don't have to worry about volcanic fallout, firespout, pyroclasm, pingers, etc.
after M10: hey cool, I don't have to worry about all that stuff from before, and now a serious threat that can wipe all of my guys, like EARTHQUAKE, is now a dud! great sideboard

A marvelous enchantment for those annoying red decks. Volcanic Fallout? Firespout? Pyroclasm? Useless when the haven is on the board.

I got a foil one in a booster. It is the prettiest card I own.

something that gives -1/-1 until the end of turn is not considered damage, nor is an effect that applies -1/-1 counters to a creature. The only exception to this is Wither, as the creatures combat damage is converted to -1/-1 counters after the damage has been dealt. that doesn't really help with Mark of Asylum though.

At first I didn't see that it was an enchantment. Now I see how good this is with cards like Pyrohemia.

R/W with this, Chain Reaction, Magma Phoenix, etc, works wonderfully.

To answer a question very late, no, gSe7eN, putting a -1/-1 counter on something is not damage. All that does is lower a creature's toughness, which is not the same thing as taking damage.

There are now five "Mark of" cards. One for each color.

Read it as an instant. MUCH better as an enchantment.
