For the casual crowd this cla.s.sic aura was obsoleted by Crown of Flames a long time ago. I wonder why they haven't switched to that improved card entirely in the core set so far but I suspect it is for flavour reasons. If you spend 1Red you get some more beef like Dragon Breath, Fiery Mantle, Ghitu Firebreathing and Keldon Mantle.

Such a classic aura. Now outmoded by the practice of stapling the design to awesome creatures. Mostly dragons. Mostly Shivan Dragon, Hellkite Overlord, Mordant Dragon, Steel Hellkite, and the like.

@MarkusAntonius: You can activate the ability as many times as you have the mana to do so. For example, if you have a Raging Goblin enchanted with Firebreathing, and you have five untapped Mountains, you could tap them all to activate Firebreathing's ability five times, making the goblin a 6/1.

My brother always uses this on a Viashino Spearhunter.

Firebreathing is one of those iconic cards that reminds you of when you first started playing and puts a small smile on your face (it's iconic enough that it should be its own keyword by now, i.e.- firebreathing Red). Unfortunately, it's just not worth it.
As an aura it already suffers from 2-for-1'ing, plus you have to dedicate mana to it every turn to get an effect. It's certainly helpful if you get to use it for several turns, but it doesn't do anything to keep your creature alive, so that's just unlikely. Normally you're better off packing fireballs instead of this enchantment, as a fireball will deal the same amount of damage without requiring a creature, much less an attacking creature.

It is nice to see that they have brought back Firebreathing. It can help seal some early games and works great on tramplers.

Considering some of the other powerful cards in M10, it's total crap that they brought back the awful 1CC cards like this and Jump instead of using their improved versions like Crown of Flames and Leap or Shimmering Wings. Oh wait, that's right, cards aren't allowed to be good unless they're rare now.
