instant removal is the best kind... has so many advantages over sorcery speed I won't even go into it. This is great for the non-straight burn red deck. this has a reasonable price, and can do a severe amount of damage. If your opponent has creatures roughly power=cost, and you each have roughly the same number of lands out (as you should), then this can clear out a creature of theirs nearly every time, even on the turn they play it. great way to clear out their beasts for your jackal familiars and whatnot. 4/5

I'd definitely pay the extra 1 for an instant speed Spitting earth. That being said, Spitting Earth could have been 1 mana. Or this could have been RR, I guess. Either way, it passes.

Its kinda nice to see an instant version of Spitting Earth, although the cost could've stayed at two mana, not three.

Very little reason to play this if you happen to have snow-covered mountains for Skred, which does the exact same thing for 2 less.

Its extra mana is for its instant speed... good with mono red burn decks, eliminates threats respectively...

Why one earth would you be playing with snow-covered lands? If you are, clearly, you'd go for cards that had something to do with snow-covered permanents. If you're NOT (as 99% of people are not) you play with cards such as this.
