I made a fun casual deck using Smokebraider and Soulbright Flamekin as mana acceleration for his effect and Heartstone to lessen its cost. Add in some Flamekin Harbingers as tutors, Terra Eternal so they can't get rid of the burning lands, and Leyline of Punishment to ensure they die from the damage. Especially fun against green land ramp.

The reminder text is also his flavor text.

Honestly, one of the best Mythics ever printed. Very flavourful, fun and balanced. 5/5

Ok, a lot of people are hating this card, either because of the reminder text or because its not at a "Mythic Power Level" (ironically, these people are probably the same people who complain about the Baneslayer). Yet the truth is that Mythic Cards are supposed to be something special, not necessarilly powerful. One of the most powerful red spells in the game is A COMMON. This card is very balanced, very usefull (a 4/4 for 4 with an ability that does not require tapping), and while it won't win you the game on your own, it will tip the balance in your favour (if you can even get this guy's ability off once, you put your opponent on a max 20 turn clock, and that's worst case scenario).
Also, like many Mythic Cards, this guy is full of flavour. In a set where land's are incredibly important, he almost has the opposite effect, PUNISHING opponents for having lands. The blaze counter's represent the land being set alight, and think of it this way, if you're a planeswalker, and you'r... (see all)

"The land continues to burn..."
That's awesome. Reminds me of Rock Hydra.

Got him at the Pre-release and he won me a few games. He was usually Cancelled though. But once he does get out, the fun begins.

I honestly have no idea why there's such an uproar about the reminder text. I for one, actually like it. It's almost as if it has its own individual text. What's wrong with that? Either way, I think everyone's making a mountain out of a molehill on this one.

this dude is strictly for breaking a late game stalemate, as the more mana you have, the hotter the blaze he can create using napalm

he should be legendary. you dont say An Obsidian Fireheart, you say THE Obsidian Fireheart

he creates brush fires, forest infernos, volcanic eruptions, methane conflagurations, and tectonic upheavals. he isnt used to deal damage, he is created to destroy worlds. i put this in my under-rated folder along with Hateflayer, as they both do something useful and very powerful.

thanks to ruling, if you have 7 mana when you play this, 5 of which must be red, you can drop a blaze counter on one of the opponent's lands add 3 mana for each consecutive token

The reminder text is the best part of the card.

I run a Braid of Fire deck for casual 2HG. This is one of my favorite creatures to drop. If they have removal, they use it. It's not even "that bad" to have 1-3 lands burning in 2HG, but people really, really don't want you to. So fun. 4/4 for 4 cmc is no joke either. 5/5
