It's very fast, but I will not swap my set of Carnophages for a set of this one.

The 10-life mechanic combines wonderfully with an old-school suicidal black creature. The way the flavor text reflects how the card actually plays is just perfect.

GREAT racing card. It's downside is less than what you're hitting the opponent for, and if they choose to kill it later in the game, you lose the downside!

Wonderful one-drop, black vamp looks very strong in zendikar/2010

"Suicide black" is the first thing I thought of when I saw the vampires in this set. The lacerator is an improved version of carnophage, a key component of the old suicide black set. Hatred and Dark Ritual aren't legal anymore, but I can definitely see vampire decks becoming extremely powerful in the new type II.

I guess this whole vampire and 10 life thing is meant for Sorin Markov but I still don't use him. {B} for a 2/2 that causes -1 Life is still good enough for me; plus he can wear down your opponent to 10 life on his own too.

I love my Lacerators so very much. Threw them in a deck I built for a friend who was just starting. Took me several minutes to explain to him WHY playing this turn 1 would be worth losing the 1 life on the next turn before you threw a bonesplitter on it and swung for the fences.

Underrated, he's no Goblin Guide but Black can't have a vampire equivalent! He's still a great turn one play, follower by a Bloodghast etc, it's the reason Vamps is good, tempo.
