My problem with Hellbent is that the cards are medicore outside of hellbent, and decent inside of it.
the huge problem with it was, when you have no cards in hand, you cant deal with threats or have an answer without nerfing the hell out of your own cards.

Sigh...my theory on Hellbent is that if you have it, the spell should be above average, because it sux having nothing in hand. You have nothing to play, so the stuff you have should get really good...like maybe if it got +3/+2 or something, it probs wouldn't be broken, but it would be better than average...having no cards is a major disadvantage, so stuff with Hellbent should make it reeeeaaalllly good

This collides strongly with other cards in Demonic (eg. Promise of Power)

@Superllama: Are you high? A 4/3 Flier for 4 isn't good? Dude, 4/3 flying for is insane, Black doesn't get that efficient of creatures EVER.

While I kinda miss Hellbent in the new Ravnica block, it's probably for the best that it's gone.
A 2-power flier is nothing to snort at in Limited, though, even if it's 4 mana. A 4-power flier is just plain crazy. But this version will never see limited play, so it's really just filler in the deck.
