I had a friend who played a deck like that. The only difference was that he would hit the Legionnaire with something like Pacifism or Gaseous Form, rather than donating an additional creature, like the Evil Eye. Bazaar Trader didn't exist at the time, so there was a need to conserve Donates -- he needed another one to give away his win condition, Tolarian Serpent!

Terrible. Why was he in Masters Edition 3? And I hate getting him in Momir Basic games. His only upside is that your opponent doesn't want to kill him, so they'll use up their chump blockers and/or let him through. But probably their 8cmc guys are beating you down at that point, so they aren't worried about that too much.
