I like the idea of choosing abilities and I'm sure this guy was a bruiser back in the day, but when you compare him to Akroma, Angel of Wrath, you just have to sigh and shake your head...

This guy could be pretty cool if he had flying as a static ability. Like someone else said too, this is a really cool effect that you dont see on many cards, if any. The classic flavor is cool to me. I love these old duel colored cards, they take me back to being a youngster, and for some reason every time I could get my hands on any multi-colored creatures I would think they were the best ever. Legends cards weren't reknowned for being good, but they paved the way for gold cards later on. This guy, even back in the day, was just ok. A 4/4 (potentially flying) was nothing to scoff at, but then again, at the exact same cost, you could have summoned Lady Caleria, a much better alternative, or at 5cc, Serra Angel.

@ A3Kitsune: Malach of the Dawn is male. Then there are a few like Angelic Page of indeterminate gender. For what it's worth the novel Planeswalker established that there are male Serra Angels, as one appeared in it.

He's an Angel. He's male. Every other Angel in Magic is female (I think. There may be one or two other male Angels I've missed).
