Famine is the same exact card and is rated a full star lower (at this point in time.) As far as board sweeps go, I'd rather use Mutilate.

It's rated badly because of the manacost. Try Pyroclasm or Slagstorm. They can't do damage to players and creatures at the same time, but damage to players isn't something you need from a board sweeper.

This card suggest one simple strategy: play fatties and destroy weenies!

The plague is a lot less intimidating than it should be. Wizards, make better plagues. Plagues that read: destroy all players.
