This, the most hated card of the set? Just a brief glance at the first page for fourth edition on the gatherer shows me both Aladdin's Ring and Amulet of Kroog. I can see that this is on the bad side of mediocre, but I feel that it in no way deserves the title of "worst card in the set."

I think I once played this thing in my early days of Magic because I didn't have enough creatures to build my black deck. Since then, I've torn up every copy I owned (as I find them). Bad drawback on an unimpressive creature? Why!?

TDL: no, it actually was voted by players, in survey conducted by WotC, to be the most hated card of fourth edition. People would have rather had a Rod of Ruin, as sad as that is.

I would play Rock Jockey over this any day (especially in my blue-red goblin deck, this is a #1 choice for Goblin Lackey), but I would sideboard this against Reanimate or Mimic Vat decks. I'll give it a 2.

I once heard this one was the most hated card of the set and therefore didn't get reprinted in 5th edition.
Maybe because of the strangely creepy artwork, or the weird drawback (at least concerning a black card) of getting removed from the game despite being a plain 2/1 two-drop.

This reminds me of Fleshmad steed It's like they forgot to buff the p/t or give deathtouch or something. I'd like to believe it's because some newbie out there, sick of losing to Walking Corpse wanted it nerfed.
