I actually prefer the extra 1 mana to llanowar elves since I run a multicolor deck. If you have a mono or dual color deck, this may not be as useful.

@Veritus7 - Sadly, you can't produce mana of any color not in the game, so no purple, orange, etc.
I run these in my Elf deck that can pop out either a nasty dragon (Dragon Tyrant) or another big threat (Scion of Darkness). If these get dropped (which is probable), I still have other ways to bring these out.

@Richard_Hawk: Quirion Elves can only produce one mana on its own, not two. It has two separate mana abilities and each requires that you tap the creature. So once you've used it for one of the abilities, you can't tap it again for the second ability.
