In most mono decks, this thing is usually strictly better than his mana making cousins.

Four in my Arti-fect deck. Pumps out the Artifacts and then helps with the poison. All in all this little guy is a real team player, and never back talks.

I don't think I understand this guy. I'd never run it. Why have a sub-par support ability and a combat ability on a sub-par body? It's too weak for infect - compare to Ichorclaw or Glistening Elf, and the fact that it produces colorless for 2 CMC makes it the worst of the mana producers. You want to call it the best of both worlds, but in reality, I feel like it just falls too short on both ends to be considered versatile. Not horrible really, but I can't imagine too many scenarios where it'd be your best option.

This is a good card.
Unfortunately, infect is not lacking for 2 drops that are better with Blighted Agent, Plague Stinger, Necropede, etc.

In Scars block this thing was absurd, a potent blocker and a Mana dork on turn 2 is nothing to sneeze at. Given he only gives you 
colorless mana but we are talking about an Artifact heavy block, so getting colorless mana is a boon not a bust. The colored Myrs gave mana but they couldnt efficiently block like this guy. Also in terms of Infect this guy is a 2/2 not a 1/1 due to infect taking 10 damage to win. The general rule of thumb being double every creature with infect's power giving you the value of the creature in terms of damage taken. Infect was a fun strategy to play and it gave magic players something to think about.
