Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.
The card references Deranged Hermit. The Thelonites were a cadre of mycologists who worked with Thelon of Havenwood to develop the first Thallids

This guy is monstrous in a Saproling deck. Four 2/2 tokens and a buff for 5 mana isn't anything to sneeze it.
Also an obvious homage to Deranged Hermit, one of the most ridiculously silly cards in existence.
And just for that, I respect this crazy little guy.
