The card's good, but the flavour text is great. On cards like this, Magic creates a mythology all it's own, and that's part of what makes the game worth playing. 5/5

Wall of Roots + Avenger of Zendikar...
Quite fun

This is one of the few walls worth playing. Why is this wall useful? It does something beyond mindlessly blocking! While holding off early attackers, the more important thing is that it's actively accelerating you towards taking control of the game. Rather than it slowing your losing, it helps you win faster.

And lest we forget, you can use the mana ability once per turn- so on your opponent's turn as well to get the stored mana out just a little bit faster. Potential uses:
Fog
Crop Rotation
Giant Growth

O, Leech Bonder, is there anything you can't make better?

Awesome. I'd play it over Overgrown Battlement because it effectively has haste (can use ability straight away), even if you use the ability a couple of times it still fulfils it's role as a wall while when Overgrown Battlement taps, it can't block anymore and it's harder to kill to start with than Overgrown Battlement.

Ooooh, neat. You can make an infinite mana combo with this and umbral Mantle, because the Umbral Mantle will negate the toughness loss of activating this card's ability. It'll die at the end of the turn, but it's still pretty nifty if you ask me, especially for T3 infinite mana. :3

Let's be real here: are there any times you wished that he was still around to give you mana T7? Here are the real differences this card makes:
-doesn't die to point removal (unless you've already used it a fair amount)
-blocks well (gains you a lot of effective life)
-MAKES MANA DURING OPPONENT'S Turn
There aren't a lot of constructed formats in which this is worse than Llanowar Elves, the 'gold standard' for mana-dorks.

@Duskmantle
How does this combo work? It's ability doesn't tap it and it can only be used once per turn, so I don't see a way to make it activate more than once per turn, much less infinite times.
