Had some issues with a ruling on this card, people kept saying the wording "another target nonland permanent" means even if you make its target illegal- you simply re-target rather than have the ability be countered, and just sit there doing nothing.
I'm pretty sure "another target" is referring to anything but itself (another as in not it otherwise that would cause a loop resulting in a draw).

Very flexable cost too. One of the most versitile cards in the game. 5/5

You are correct, Sage25. If its target was made illegal, the Oblivion Ring will enter the battlefield, its ability will be countered, and its controller will be left with a nearly-useless enchantment.

You could play one Oblivion Ring targeting or not targeting anything, then play another targeting the first, and a third targeting the second. You would get a loop that might be useful if you have anything that cares about enchantments coming into play. To end it, just throw in an Auratog.

@Tuvyen
When a card enters the battlefield is is treated as a brand new object, so a planeswalker coming back would be reset back to its default loyalty counters.

I wish you were still in Standard, Oblivion Ring. Journey to Nowhere is good and all, but it doesn't help against those blasted Wallet Sculptors.

This card is.. silly. Id argue that in most matchups its better than vindicate, feel free to deny that.

If this card exiles another card that has counters on it, does that card come back reset, or do the counters it left with remain with the card?
