I wouldn't feel very safe living in Benalia. Their military sucks. Whatever, better than living in Malakir, where the Gatekeepers and Butchers just kill you.

3 for a 3/3 half the time.
Solid in limited.
Not much more to say.

It seems like this guy was specifically put in to be a 3/3 that could be killed by Grim Lavamancer and Shock.

Woulda been cooler if it was Benalish Hero, only old. Hero is one of the cards I remember from when I was young... along with Giant Growth and Mind Ravel

White has a funny relationship with 3 cmc cards. If they don't pump the team or have strong protection abilities, they shouldn't even bother trying. I like this for a white green limited deck, though. Maybe white red too?

If this was in Magic 2010, it would be much better. But in an environment without a lot of tribal support for soldiers, he just isn't good enough. This is a card that should see most of its play in limited.

It's a common, what do you expect? It's not quite on the Mana Curve, but at least its a Soldier, meaning it can be buffed in a tribal deck.

I kind of like the card, as I run a Human/Soldier deck so I can use tribal spells to power it up, but from the general stand-point, he sucks. 2.5/5 for being extremely "buffable", but for not being all that great alone.
