Turn one blocker that trumps most non-evasive non-trample and most black removal. The kicker is such a joke as to be disregarded, so I did. 4/5.

Ziokai, I think you're getting distracted by the kicker. Ignore the kicker cost, and you've got a regenerator for 1 mana- that's not bad. Openseasonnoob is right, this is one of the best early game chump blockers out there.

I really like this card, its purpose is to block. The kicker is only there as a filler, your not really supposed to use it, but it gives versatility for those few times it may be needed.
B for a 0/1 with regenerate for B is worth it, especially in black decks that rely on their end-game or need to buy time against aggro decks.

Yeah, as has been said, he keeps the same spot as Drudge Skeletons, but at better tempo. It's not like I'm going to swing with him. And, while Will-o'-the-Wisp is better, I keep this lil' guy in my casual Death Baron deck, because he can become relevant again as a deathtouch chump-blocker.

A decend blocker, although there are better ones, few cost only B aside from Will-o'-the-Wisp. Those who say it's worth nothing seem to forget that you don't actually have to pay the kicker cost unless you've got an insane amount of mana to throw away.

One of the best black super-blockers in the game. Nothing worthwhile is going to have trample until at least turn 4 anyway, so throw this pup down and use him to chump block the living hell out of everything coming your way. The kicker cost is that way so you have to spend all 4 mana from your turn one Dark Ritual in order to get out the 1/1 critter. But the point of the card isn't to kill stuff, it's to prevent damage from being dealt to you. This card makes Goblin Guide cry in uselessness. 5/5 For excellence in early game play and a late game mana dump when your Cabal Coffers is pumping out 20 useless mana. Oh, by the way youngin', the kicker cost being that high used to help when REAL magic was played with mana burn. It allowed you to effectively use CC and not have to worry about taking damage from it later since your Phyrexian Arena was already limiting your life expenditure.

3 mana for a +1/+1 counter is so overcost that its a joke. The kicker cost for this card along with the starting power/toughness makes it a horrible card. Compaired to Drudge Skeleton, its big brother?, this card makes no sense other than to be a crappy Wall of Bone. Drudge Reavers which has the same casting cost as this card when played with its kicker has flash, now thats a equal casting cost card. The only thing that could makes this card worthwhile would for the kicker ability to add 2 +1/+1 counters to it not one. 1/5

Before I voted, this card was 3.5 stars. People, get your sh!t together. Either you have a 1st turn 0/1 regenerator or a forth (!) turn 1/2 regenerator.Neither of those are remotely useful
There really needs to be an option for giving cards 0 stars.

@openseasonnoob, I don't think you're using dark ritual right if you're getting 4 mana on turn 1 with it.... Anyway, if you can ignore the kicker then this card is an easy 4/5, a regenerating blocker on turn one is nothing to laugh at.
