Very nice control card against creatures, and this card has also two relevant creature types! :) Destroys little creatures and bounces larger creatures, although it takes a while before you get something for your mana..

This card isn't bad at all... both of those abilities are pretty good for being repeatable!

Overcosted? Doing 2 damage to a creature is pretty hard to do. He's meant for late game grixis control. Bounce a big terrifying creature or ping small utility ones, or even the player in cases of lockdown.

He's got some stupidly good abilities. You guys never even play EDH?

Reusable bouncing is really powerful, especially at such a low mana cost. Yes, this is expensive, but compare this to Temporal Adept, which is still considered a very powerful card -- it can bounce anything, has one less cmc, and is just one color, but it costs one more to use and doesn't have the damage option.

(And paying one less to bounce things does matter, because it's a power that becomes overwhelming if you can use it every turn, forcing your opponent to pay much more than you to keep their cards on the board.)

He's too expensive and fragile obviously to be of use outside casual decks. In some casual decks, especially slower multiplayer versions, he can be quite good however. If he manages to survive at least one turn, you can keep killing small creatures and bouncing big ones. Or bouncing your own, to replay them for "enter the battlefield" effects, or rescue them from removal. And you can of course make him bounce himself to your hand, in response to removal.

Why is this 3.5/5?
I'm not complaining, but normally you guys are critical as hell. I mean, it's a 2/2 for cmc 4, with a pair of abilities which are 1 cmc spells and very color intensive.
Get consistent people!

Its not a terrible card. But it seems like a little much to have to be able to pay 2 of three diffrent kinds of color to be able to use it to its full effect.

grixis suddenly made using both abilities feasible

A 2/2 for four mana, two black, and then overcosted abilities, also both double color. In a deck without extreme mana-fixing it won't work and it's not even good enough to run in place of something better.
