Decent in a two-color deck with cheep multicolored creatures. Should have 2/2, but it can trade on defence with 2-toughness attackers.

Yeah, just not so good. The main strength of creatures with 2 power for 1 mana is being able to reliably attack for 2 on the second turn. Requiring other creatures/colours will play havoc with that. Jackal Familiar is better, and I don't much like that, either.
