I mean as far as lifegain goes, this is pretty good. 3/5

What's the matter, Gerrard? Sisay got you pushing too many pencils?

I've always been a little underwhelmed by this card, since although it's an instant (and so could potentially trick your opponent into going all-in on an attack or something), it doesn't actually do much on its own. Compared to something like Elixir of Immortality or Faith's Fetters which combine lifegain with another effect, this card looks especially lackluster. Also counting against it is the fact that it's multicoloured, and thus goes in fewer decks, but isn't massively better than similar monocolour spells, because lifegain is an effect that green and white both get a lot of. Just so this comment isn't all negative, I will say that I like how the "target player" wording enables political shenanigans in multiplayer games.

you've just explained why pure lifegain is mediocre except against burn decks.

LP may be a less useful resource than it appears, but it's hard to say no to gaining 7 of it for such a tiny cost. And it's such a heartwarmer! Gerrard and Elly are such BFFs

You would need to spend at least 5 mana to gain more life with Dawnglow Infusion. Add to that the fact that this is Instant speed, and it clearly comes out on top. Rest for the Weary might be slightly better though.

One of the best candidates for an Isochron Scepter. Not a whole lot whole lot of utility to it, but when you just plain need to gain a good chunk of life for cheap, this might be the best green/white option. This actually works better in decks not built around life gain that sometimes need it.

I prefer this to Angel's Mercy.

Life Gain (save for Felidar Soverign effects) is not a win condition. It is a delay tactic.
